The Familiar Bond
A familiar is a specific individual creature with whom you have established a psychic bond — not automatically any pet, but one who has chosen you as much as you chose them. Sit quietly with your animal today and ask: does this creature seek me out? Do they stay near my practice without being asked? That is the beginning of recognition.
SAFETYNo tools needed. Just attention.

Sigils on the Bowl
Draw a protective sigil on the bottom of your pet's food or water bowl with a permanent marker before filling it. The sigil sits beneath their sustenance, working continuously. Use your own protective symbol or the Black Poppy protection sigil.
SAFETYMarker on the outside bottom only. Never inside the bowl.

Pet Protection Spell Jar
Fill a small jar with Himalayan pink salt, rosemary, cloves, cinnamon, and sage. Add a rolled-up photo or a few hairs from your pet tied with red ribbon. Seal it. Keep it near where they sleep. Repeat the protection intention as you seal: 'kept safe, kept well, kept home.'
SAFETYJar stays sealed — no herbs contact the animal.

Candle Spell for Pet Safety
Carve your pet's name into a white or blue candle. Anoint it with a drop of lavender oil (on the candle only). Light it and state your protection intention clearly. Let it burn in a safe location away from animals and fabric.
SAFETYNever leave a candle unattended. Keep pets away from open flame.

Cord & Pouch Magic · All Pets
Familiar Binding Pouch
Collect: a few safely-gathered hairs or whiskers from your familiar, one of your own hairs, a small crystal chip (amethyst or quartz), dried basil, a pinch of sea salt. Place in a tiny jar or cloth pouch tied with brown thread. This is a bond token — not a control device. It deepens existing connection.
SAFETYUse only naturally shed fur or whiskers — never cut.

Herbal Collar Charm
Create a small sachet of dried rosemary and lavender. Tie it to your pet's collar tag or bed. Rosemary is the traditional protection herb. Lavender calms anxiety. Refresh monthly with new dried herbs.

Rose Water Aura Clearing
Organic rose water (hydrosol) lightly misted near your pet clears their energy field without the risks of essential oils. Keep a bottle for ritual use. Cats particularly respond well — they engage rather than flee from rose hydrosol.
SAFETYHydrosol only — NOT rose essential oil. Never spray directly in eyes or nose.

Peace Spell for Multi-Pet Homes
For animals that need help getting along: fill a cauldron or bowl with water. Add a few drops of lavender. Place two white candles at opposite sides. As you light them, speak the names of both animals and the peace you call between them. Let the candles burn safely.
SAFETYCandles away from animals. Never leave unattended.

Healing Touch Channeling
When your animal is unwell, sit with them and place your hands near (not forcing contact) their body. Visualize warm golden light moving from your hands into the animal. This is Reiki-adjacent practice — you are channeling, not fixing. Combine with proper veterinary care, not instead of it.
SAFETYThis complements medical care. Always see a vet for illness.

Grief Work for Lost Familiars
Your familiar does not stop being your familiar when they leave the physical world. Light a candle in their color. Speak their name. Place a photo on your altar. The bond that was real remains real. Work with them as you would an ancestor — with respect, with love, with the understanding that love does not require a body.
SAFETYThere is no safety concern. This is sacred grief work.

Wild Familiar Recognition
A familiar does not have to live in your home. The crow that watches your yard, the hawk that appears at significant moments, the spider who builds in the same corner — these are contacts, not pets. Begin keeping a record of which wild animals seek you out repeatedly. Patterns are communications.
SAFETYObserve only. Do not feed or handle wildlife.

Alice Moon: The Shepherd Guard
Belgian Shepherds carry an ancient working bond with humans that makes them natural familiar candidates — highly attuned to human emotional states, protective by instinct, and aware of things before you are. Honor Alice Moon's guarding role explicitly: acknowledge her at the start and close of ritual, and thank her when she alerts to something you didn't notice.
SAFETYYour girl is already on duty. Trust what she tells you.
